Overview

Product Overview

The Rod Welder uses electrical resistance and controlled upsetting force to join correctly prepared rod or blade ends. The opposing sections are clamped, current heats the interface and the machine brings the softened ends together to form the weld. Correct settings and preparation are essential for alignment, consistency and joint integrity.

The range covers eleven models from 10 to 150 kVA. All models list AC 380/440 V, two lines of three-phase input at 50/60 Hz, a 10% duty cycle, eight adjusting taps and a common approximate footprint of 785 x 525 x 1050 mm. Fuse requirements increase with machine rating.

Model-specific capacities are supplied for mild steel, high-carbon steel, copper, brass and aluminium rod. Selected lower and medium ratings also list carbon-steel blade and bimetal blade ranges. The appropriate model must be chosen from the actual material and cross-section rather than from kVA alone.

Typical applications include fabrication, wire and rod processing, maintenance, blade preparation and joining operations where suitable resistance butt welding is specified. Weld procedure development should address material composition, end squareness, cleanliness, clamping, tap setting, upset allowance, flash removal, heat treatment where required and the applicable inspection or bend test.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Rod Welder used for?
It is used to resistance butt-weld suitably prepared rod or blade ends for fabrication, rod processing, maintenance and selected blade-joining operations.
Which materials can the range weld?
The supplied table includes model-specific ranges for mild steel, high-carbon steel, copper, brass and aluminium. Selected models also list carbon-steel and bimetal blade capacities.
What is the available power range?
The eleven listed models range from 10 to 150 kVA. Select the model from the exact material and section range rather than kVA alone.
What is the largest listed mild-steel rod capacity?
TLPB-150 lists a mild-steel range of 20–31 mm. Other materials have different maximum diameters and must be checked in the specification table.
Can the Rod Welder join blade sections?
Selected models list carbon-steel blade ranges up to 35–75 mm and bimetal blade ranges up to 40–65 mm. Confirm blade thickness, width, tooth material and required post-weld treatment.
What electrical supply is required?
The supplied sheet lists AC 380/440 V, two lines of three-phase input at 50/60 Hz. Fuse ratings vary from 30 to 375 A by model and must be confirmed for local installation.
How should a rod weld be inspected?
Inspection may include alignment and flash checks, dimensional verification, bend or tensile testing, hardness review and application-specific tests defined by the quality plan.
What information should be provided with an enquiry?
Provide material grade, rod diameter or blade section, maximum and minimum sizes, production frequency, required joint strength, post-weld processing, test requirements and available electrical supply.
