Overview

Product Overview

The Gantry Machining Center is designed for machining large workpieces within a rigid bridge-type structure. Twin columns support the cross rail and spindle assembly around the working area, helping maintain tool positioning across wide components while keeping the work securely located on the table.

The PGMC range includes PGMC1611, PGMC2013, PGMC2016 and PGMC2518 models. Listed X-axis travels extend from 1600 to 2500 mm, Y-axis travels from 1100 to 1800 mm and Z-axis travels from 600 to 850 mm. Table sizes and gantry widths increase across the range to accommodate different component envelopes.

Depending on the model, the table supports listed loads from 1600 to 6000 kg. Spindle speeds are listed at 8000 rpm for PGMC1611, PGMC2013 and PGMC2016, and 6000 rpm for PGMC2518. Every model lists a 24-tool capacity, supporting multi-operation machining with reduced manual tool changes.

Typical applications include machining dies and mould bases, plates, machine frames, fabricated structures, energy and transport components, and other large parts requiring milling, drilling, boring, contouring or related operations. Final model selection should consider the full workpiece and fixture envelope, total load, required travels, gantry clearance, tool reach, spindle requirements, tolerance, surface finish, material-removal rate, chip management and installation foundation.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Gantry Machining Center used for?
It is used for suitable milling, drilling, boring and contouring operations on large parts such as dies, mould bases, plates, machine frames and fabricated engineering components.
Which models are included in the PGMC range?
The supplied range includes PGMC1611, PGMC2013, PGMC2016 and PGMC2518, with progressively larger travels, gantry widths, table sizes, load capacities and machine weights.
What is the largest listed working travel?
PGMC2518 lists the largest travels at 2500 mm on X, 1800 mm on Y and 850 mm on Z. Workpiece and fixture clearances must also fit the 1800 mm listed gantry width.
What table loads can the machines carry?
The listed maximum table loads are 1600 kg, 2000 kg, 4000 kg and 6000 kg respectively. Include fixture, clamps and accessories when calculating the total table load.
What spindle speeds are listed?
PGMC1611, PGMC2013 and PGMC2016 list 8000 rpm, while PGMC2518 lists 6000 rpm. Suitable speed depends on the tool, material, cut and spindle configuration.
Does the machine include automatic tool capacity?
The supplied table lists a tool capacity of 24 pieces for every model. Confirm holder type, maximum tool dimensions, tool weight and change sequence in the final offer.
Why choose a gantry structure for large machining?
A bridge supported by two columns provides a wide working envelope and a structurally supported path for the spindle across large components. Accuracy still depends on machine construction, foundation, setup, thermal control and cutting conditions.
What information should be provided with an enquiry?
Provide component drawings, maximum size and weight including fixtures, material, required operations, tolerances, finish, tooling, production volume, chip and coolant needs, electrical supply, foundation and installation-space details.
